Microsoft combats Google Maps with Virtual Earth

"Virtual Earth is a fusion of many exciting dimentions that we experience from mutiple sources today; it provides a core set of reference points such as maps, aerial imagery, photos, consumer and business directories and ratings and reviews and allow the broader community of consumers and businesses to contribute their own location-specific information to create an always expanding, dynamic and relevant."

Virtual Earth Hybrid function

I watched the video demo over at Channel9 and liked what I saw. I was espcially impressed by the Hybrid functionality that overlays textual information and labels over the satellite photos. Watch for this in July; I can't wait! Check out Chandu Thota's site for more details as he's on the development team.
