New recording rig for the Commute-Cast

The Commute-Cast podcast that I record with Barb has quickly evolved from a once a week show on a Dell DJ! This week, we recorded three shows for your commuting pleasure; not only that but we dropped a few bucks on some REAL sound equipment. Previously we recorded on the first genereation Dell DJ through it's built in microphone. This week we picked up a portable sound mixer, two lavalier condenser microphones and the proper cables. In addition, we no longer record to the DJ; instead, we pipe the digital sound directly to a Tablet PC! Here's a preliminary pic of the setup:

Only the most recent show (#18 from 5/6/05) uses the new gear and you'll have to bear with us as we work out some sound issues. In some parts of the show, we break up due to too much signal gain, however 90% of the show is infinitely better than previous recordings. We'll figure it as we sure to hop over to Commute-Cast for this week's three shows!

Excellent Kevin!! The Audio Technica mic is unbelievable! I have fully migrated over to it.. The only issue is it records in mono so you just need to get a nifty adapter from Radio Shack for 3 bucks!

Are you the one in the silver truck that almost ran me off the road the other day while you were recording?

Yes, the new rig also doubles as Air Traffic Controller gear, which would explain all of the low flying aircraft around our house. As far as the other comment; you'll have to listen to the show to see if we ran anyone off the road! ;)
